International Temporary Work Migration a Win-Win Situation

A Gallup survey of 141,000 adults in 119 countries recently reported that 1 in 4 adults would like to go to another country for temporary work. In our modern, globally connected world, this is unsurprising. With ready access to world culture on the internet and television, many adults want to experience it themselves; and what better way than to work in a foreign country for a short period of time. Sub-Saharan African countries are the most likely in the world to migrate for temporary work purposes, a staggering 49% of all adults surveyed!

Despite rising western fears of permanent migration, only 14% of people surveyed said they’d like to migrate permanently.

It seems that temporary work migration is a win-win situation for all involved. The temporary worker can gain valuable skills in language, diplomacy and cultural understanding and the host country benefits through added skills in their labour market and strengthening links with its international neighbours. The country from which the migrant came benefits too as high levels of migration away from a country can indicate a weak job market - with residents leaving to find work elsewhere, the job market is freed up and the domestic population often benefits economically by money sent home from workers temporarily abroad.

The world is getting smaller and migration is seems is on the increase, especially amongst the young and well-educated. 41% of people aged 15 to 24 said they would like the opportunity to work in another country as opposed to only 7% of those aged 65 and over.

Finding international work though can be a difficult process, and even once you have found an employer and gained a visa, actually moving to another country with very different rules and regulations can be daunting.

UK Work Study saves you time and money by making this process as easy and stress free as possible, have a look at what’s included in our UK Work Pack and see what we can do for you now.
