Water, water everywhere – we love talking about the weather but what about the benefits of water for students in the UK?
I thought I would write something positive about water (and not just due to the fact that it is raining constantly!) - as we can’t live without it and really should not take it for granted.
In the UK we get our water straight from the tap to drink and while it may not be as pure as bottled or filtered it is still VERY good for us.
There is a close link between drinking water and the brain function. Drinking approximately 8 glasses of water during the day ensures we keep well hydrated which will improve our memory, attention span and concentration, and as a student, will give us an edge!
Apparently, concentration could improve by 10% just because you are not distracted by the effects of dehydration such as being thirsty, tired or just feeling grumpy.
You may be coming from a far hotter country than the UK, but don’t forget to drink water just because the heat isn’t making you thirsty.
REMEMBER IT’S ON TAP
Drinking water can help with short and long term health problems from headaches to kidney problems and has none of the problems linked to sugary drinks, sweeteners, acids or caffeine, and – of course - alcohol.
DRINK WATER - IT’S A NO BRAINER!
